If I Was A Rose Petal
If I was a rose petal, would I've settled for thorns
as a sister, with her jaggy face and shape beside her, reside
Wouldn't I've called out for a ruler,
two-meter social distance,
radius, apply
before at mama's table, we sit
Would a marriage suitor of a calibre
around her rough pointed corners and spheres, bring
If in thrill I was to sway and twirl
that I too 've found myself not just a mere visitor
but a love chaser
a true gentleman, no dilly dally
in the adornment of my finger with a ring;
would I've danced, before my tender feet
into her stings bump and bleed.
I am not a rose petal neither a thorn
so to winds are my concerns
for these two sisters, their love has won
Sister beauty and sister jaggy, are solid buddies
f rom the same mother
different figures, beside one another
sis rose flower , the thorn is her cheerleader
defender. its her she celebrates
sis thorn, rose flower's
her glamour and beauty tower
its her, she jubilates
Entrepreneurship Poetic Nuggets
If Starting a business or anything was like sprinkling confetti for adding colour to a bridal table, by now, all of us would have become renowned world entrepreneurs. Isn't it?
But boy!, not even James Browns song, Its A Mans's Mans's world .. is a reflective mirror of what it is; a venture into the new non posted path, not for anyone else but that particular start-up person.
But, sometimes, to break into a new arena feels like passing through the rose thorny entanglement with the rose shrubs prickling the visionaries eyes.
Or is it unnecessary ballooning of the challenges expected in the business world, especially for a start-up like me? If this is a too simplistic generalisation, but in my world, sometimes it feels like plucking rose petals with bare soft hands.
To pluck a rose is to bypass the thorns. A true horticulturist will testify to it; despite sticking to 101 lessons of how to pluck rose petals, getting rose flower can still pause unwelcome prickings. Such that thinking one can get rose flowers, without any unpleasant stings, is like taking an oath - I Pumpkin, I solemnly swear, in Ice and snow I will never skid and fall.
Its true that maybe one cant fall, but near falls and skidding are part of the fun; for those who pray, " let it snow, let it snow. Shhh! Why mention that word -snow? We sprung forward; we are now in spring, forward ever backwards never! - Lol.
Back to rose flowers, a horticulturist's grateful for the rose flowers as well as thorns.
Why have they answered prayer?
Without them, herbivory will devour the rose bushes - there will be no rose flowers, period.
Yes, I have encountered a battalion of thorns on my path to starting different projects.
I would have lost it. I would have scattered the thorns and toss them in consuming fire because they ceased being thorns; they metamorphosed into fortified swords.
Thorns are invisible
Thorns are never seen, from a distance
its the flowers that ooze beauty.
Can the same not be said about preparation to starting a business?.
The frustrations,
the tears, the sleepless nights are never mentioned
When things go wrong, there's no room or platform to tell the world; there is a delay in the launching of the business
by this time, the thorns are now horns; they feel like marching oxen horns, intending to crush one's womb of innovation
But looking back, I am grateful for some thorns situation I faced
I am glad that when I spent days and night to bulldoze, what I thought was gigantic boulders on my entrepreneurial way, now I realise some were the breaks by the greatest way maker of our time they were delays but relays to plausible connections, communication, innovation Entrepreneurship Nugget
Just like rose petals and thorns who reside beside one another, complement each other gains and losses in business, if blended, they can become,
innovative ideas for growing the business and forming new connections.
